About Lao Lane Xang Luang Prabang Association (Click Here for more information)

There are two periods of Lao Lane Xang  Luang Prabang Association:
Periods of Management under an unregistered and registered organisation.

Unregistered Organisation

In April 2001 Lao Luang Prabang group formed their association under the name of “Lao Luang Prabang Association”. The aims of the group were to support its members with financial assistance toward the funeral of their family member who passed away and to maintain Luang Prabang culture in Australia.

In regards to Luang Prabang culture, they started to order crowns for “Sita Dancing Group”, Sita dance was a dance performed by the Royal Dance Group in Luang Prabang. It is taken from the history of Ramayana, the history of Indian epics over thousands of years ago. Every Lao New Year, the Sita dance was performed at the Royal Reception for the kings and their guests.

However most members of the group realised that the group had unlimited responsibility from the association because it was not registered. In other word's members had not separate identity from the Association.
They therefore decided to have their organisation registered.

Registered Organisation
In May 2005, the group held a Special General Meeting at Civic Hall, cnr McBurney Road and Railway Parade, Cabramatta NSW 2166. The agenda of the meeting was to adopt the constitution for application for registration and to nominate a responsible person to apply with the Department of Fair Trading. Finally the Lao Luang Prabang Association was successful registered under the name of
Lao Lane Xang Luang Prabang Incorporated”.

The management committee became more confident in running their organisation because their responsibility is limited according to membership contribution. The Lao Lane Xang Luang Prabang Incorporated objects are wider than before. The main aims are as below:
  • To assist Lao Luang Prabang and other persons in needs with their problems and needs.
  • To financially support the funeral of members of the association and their immediate families in Australia.
  • To promote friendship and co-operation among Lao Luang Prabang and all Lao in Australia.
To show other migrant organisations in Fairfield municipality area, Lao Lane Xang Luang Prabang Incorporated also participated in Bonnyrigg Festival by organising Lao Ethnic dance at Bonnyrigg Park in Smithfield Road. Now the Lao Lane Xang Luang Prabang is well organised. It has over 300 members.
